Role Overview & Responsibilities

The Procurement Team provide a crucial role to the organisation, ensuring we deliver value for money for all the goods and services we buy.
In addition to providing procurement services to Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, the Procurement Team also provide procurement services via a partnership agreement to the East Midlands Ambulance Service too.

As a member of the team you will be responsible for providing purchasing support and guidance and delivering procurement services across both organisations, whilst supporting the wider regional procurement strategy.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who enjoys using their own initiative to join the Trust's Procurement Team. No experience is necessary, as full training will be delivered with the opportunity to study for procurement qualifications. The successful candidate will help to procure and deliver high quality goods and services to front line staff and patients, helping to make a difference in the challenging financial NHS environment.
  • Processing of requisitions into purchase orders.
  • Purchasing in accordance with Procurement Operating Procedures.
  • Ensuring value for money is achieved through assessment of whole life costs.
  • Recommending appropriate sources of supply / savings opportunities via the uptake of national, regional and local contracts.
  • Managing suppliers’ performance, including delivery on time, errors, returns and invoice problems.
  • Supporting the Procurement Helpdesk in resolving issues and queries
  • Providing Procurement Systems Support as necessary
  • Supporting Procurement Systems Training

Role Purpose:
To deliver in the following areas:
  • Creation of requisitions into purchase orders.
  • Ensuring goods and services are purchased in accordance with Standing Financial Instructions and Procurement Operating Procedures.
  • Providing advice and guidance to customers to deliver best value.
  • Communicating with suppliers and customers to ensure goods and services meet agreed lead times and are of satisfactory quality.
  • Identifying and maintaining catalogue items.
  • Supporting the Category Team
  • Administrative Support for the Procurement Ordering System(s)
Role Context:
  • This role requires a Procurement Officer with the ability to deliver an efficient and professional procurement service to our customers in-line with departmental objectives.
  • The role includes placing orders via the Integra & ProcureNotts purchasing systems, assisting customers by seeking best value opportunities, monitoring the performance of suppliers and maximising savings.
  • Providing Procurement Systems support as required
