Trainee CAD Technician

Role Overview & Responsibilities

Kenect Recruitment are looking for a candidate with an interest in Engineering to start a new career as a CAD Technician

Role: To create CNC programs and establish manufacture methods for foam parts to customer order, using drawings and specifications supplied.

Hours of work: Technical operates a 3 shift system:

6.00 a.m. – 2.00 p.m. (morning shift) Monday – Friday

8.30 a.m. – 5.15 p.m. (day shift) Monday – Friday

1.30 p.m. – 10.00 p.m. (afternoon shift) Monday–Thursday, Friday 1.30pm – 7.30pm

Reporting to: Technical Manager

Duties Include

• Creating high quality CNC programs for a large variety of foam conversion machines using Alphacam
• Creating CAD drawings clearly detailing machine settings and methods of manufacture throughout the conversion process
• Manipulating CAD data to achieve solutions for customers
• Where required, drawing customer supplied parts in either 2D or 3D in Alphacam and Inventor
• Logging departmental KPI information
• Working to tight deadlines
• Creating artwork for our patented printing process in Coreldraw
• Checking and reprogramming/re-exporting legacy programs
• Communicating with customers via email, phone or via on site visits

· To undertake any other duties, from time to time, as can be reasonably requested by the company.

Skills

· Willing to learn

· Some basic knowledge of, and experience working with engineering drawings is beneficial but not required

· Experience with some form of CAD/CAM package is beneficial but not required

· Basic knowledge of how CNC machines operate

· Pragmatic considerations towards machining

· Excellent oral and written communication skills

· A pragmatic approach to problem solving

· Excellent spatial awareness

· A positive attitude towards the needs of colleagues and clients

· Experience working within a fast paced environment

· IT literate

Rate of Pay: Starting salary of £19,500 to be reviewed based on progression. Paid monthly on the last working day of each month.
